We all have experienced that in many stages we require to write letter either official or unofficial. To make our power of expression impressive our letter must be well formatted. Hence, it is mandatory to learn how to write a mark making letter. Now let's quickly look upon the factors which must be kept in mind while writing a effective letter.
Format
Format plays a key role in gaining points for our write-up. It is the basic structure which contains the basic elements which must be the part of our letter. It is generally different for an official and unofficial letter, it may also vary from letter to letter. For writing a letter it's format must be followed judiciously.The basic elements of format of a letter are as follows :
Beginning- It here refers to the address of the addressee, date , sender's address, subject, salutations, etc.
Address and date- Address and date are written on right hand top corner.
The opening or Greeting-
(a) Personal letters
(i) To blood relations :
My dear father/mother/
brother/uncle
(ii) To friends :
Dear xyz,
Dearest xyz.
(b) To businessman
Dear Sir(s)/Madam.
(c) To officials
Sir/Madam
(d) To Principal/Headmaster/
Teacher
Respected Sir/Madam/Ma'am.
Body- It is that part where real content is written which we want to convey. It generally consists of three parts,viz., starting body(where general introduction is given), middle body(where main content is written) and ending body. Body is furnished in two to three paragraphs.
The Complementary Close - It is generally one line sentence. It may be a regard, hope, or request.
The Subscription - It is a keyword used for the addressee and must be according to the beginning of the letter.
The Signature - Your initials must get their place below the subscription.
